The ultimate decision to rebrand The Shinn Life into Shinnsparkle had been a thought in the back of my mind for months. It wasn’t until I attended Business Babe‘s Transformation Weekend in Connecticut that I finally realized how much not chasing after my dreams was holding me back.
So in March of 2020, Adam and I decided to go all in.
As an ultimate test from the universe, within days of our final decision, the world was sheltering in place because of COVID-19. A large portion of the vendors we would need (packaging experts, professional printers, gemstone suppliers) would also be sheltering in place and unable to return phone calls, emails or queries.
It felt like we had suddenly taken the leap – and our parachute wasn’t fully opening.
Pushing past the urge to wallow in a “why is this happening to me?” mindset, I was determined to focus on what I could control. What were the things I could do in the interim? What was this extra chunk of time trying to show me? Better yet … where was my focus going, because that’s what I was going to manifest more of!
Remembering that thoughts become things, I knew the next step was envisioning the new brand. I could get crystal clear on what I wanted this new business to look like – down to every little detail. I spent hours pouring over inspiration on Pinterest, creating a Rebrand Mood Board:
One of the main reasons for doing a rebrand instead of just a branding update, was that I didn’t feel aligned with our business as a whole anymore. There were so many things that I wanted to create, but I felt like the message our business was sending our customers didn’t fully resonate with the target audience I wanted to attract. Every time I showed up for my business, I felt that disconnect within my soul.
They say that as you grow as a person, it will be reflected in your business. Back in 2016, we started this handmade business from our kitchen table. Since then, I have experienced some of the most profound growth periods in my entire life. I know that The Shinn Life has acted as a vessel for my journey – both personal and business – in more ways than one.
That being said, there were parts of this businesses that I noticed I was evolving away from. In the sense of know better, do better we have been on a constant trajectory for growth and expansion in our business, from our marketing strategies to the materials we use in each and every design.
When I knew that our brand was in need of an overhaul, I took a fine-toothed comb to every facet of our business and I sat with each part, face to face. What did I want this to feel like? To look like? What did I want the experience to be for our customers? What intention did I want to imbue this with?
As I did this, the inauthentic pieces started to naturally fall away. I paid attention to the moments where I was frustrated, uninspired, or lethargic. And then I made a decision to cut those pieces out.
When we first began this business, I had no idea I would one day have the opportunity to work with semi-precious gemstones and high-end materials like sterling silver and 14kt gold. I never imagined that we would be hand selecting each piece based on the metaphysical properties behind the stones. But I could not have fallen more in love with it than I have, and that is because I allowed this business to expand as if it was an entity of its own.
So without further ado, I’d love to invite you to see the newly rebranded Shinnsparkle. Come check out the shop, peruse our blog posts, and learn a little more about us.
I cannot wait to show you everything we have in store, and all of the magical things we have planned for the year ahead. Thank you so much for being a part of this journey with us.
