The name Emerald is derived from the greek smaragdus, which means “green”. It was often believed to be the Stone of Rebirth, granting the wearer good fortune and everlasting youth.

Known as the stone of wisdom, emeralds have been worshipped by royalty around the world. Cleopatra was thought to favor Emeralds above all others. Great minds such as Aristotle, Alexander the Great and Charlemagne all wore talismans containing emeralds. It was revered as the stone of intuition and foresight.
